Affiliate Marketing: The 18 Billion Dollar Concept
Affiliate marketing is responsible for 18 billion dollar in revenue in 2009 at the USA alone – say the official statistics.
Giving that 2009 was an economic depression year, those numbers are nothing short than amazing. Whether those figures include MLM marketing or not, it seems that no matter how the economy is, affiliate marketing is the digital age gold rush.
But there is also another statistic: 95% of online affiliate marketing wannabies fail to make any money at all online.
Why is that? There are many answers and theories about that, but in most the mindset and the lack of a system to work with are the main reason of failure in affiliate marketing.
The mindset is the first thing: People think it’s a “push-button” thing, where you push a few buttons and the money rolls in to your bank account. This myth is endorsed by not too few marketers, selling this illusion to the masses dreaming of affiliate marketing success.
Affiliate marketing is not “push button”. It’s a process of work that you need to implement daily in order to succeed.
That brings up the second failure pillar: The lack of a proven system to work with. With all hype going on, it’s really hard to identify a solid good working model for success in affiliate marketing.
There is no magic bullet. You need to work on picking a good product to promote, and then creating a sales funnel in which you collect email addresses and building a list – and only then you should redirect your prospect to your offer.
That, along with understanding the fundamentals of traffic generation – will make you a success in affiliate marketing.
