Federal Online Business Bureau

Has anyone else recently had their JCPenney credit card due date changed without notice?
I rarely use my JCPenney credit card. I made a purchase on Black Friday (date after Thanksgiving). I was pregnant and due on December 15th. So at the beginning of December I went through and paid all my bills but since I didn’t yet have a statement from JCPenny, I logged into my account online and the due date was 12/31/08. I paid the bill in full. I received my statement and it shows the due date of 12/30!!!!!! They changed from what it showed online early in December. Complete FRAUD. I am writing to the Comptroller of the Currency, the Federal Trade Commission, the Better Business Bureau, and my Attorney General’s Office.
It appears after doing some searched online….there have been other recent complaints of this same fraud happening to other cardholders in the last month. This is a planned scheme and is FRAUD by JCPenney and its credit card (GE Money Bank).
kohls did something similar. they use to have it that the whole calendar month was one cycle, and the new cycle would start on the first. and you’d have til the next first to pay.
so if i charged $10 in october. the cycle would close on oct 31st, and the new one would start nov 1, and that $10 would be due dec 1st.
now they made it like a straight 1- 26 day cycle, where dec cycle was dec 1 -26 and the payment is due jan 26.
its just random and weird. i feel like too many people must have weighted til the 30/31st to pay and they are trying to hurt them.
fortunately i never did, but i did notice the odd change and resent it.
PS.
I use to work for JCP. A piece of advice: if an associate tells you they can look your number up at the register, they are lying. they are having you fill out the paper to “look it up” but really your signing the paper to OPEN AN ACCOUNT. Its fraud as they are opening you a new account without your knowledge. Read all paperwork they have you fill out. The only place they can look up your account for real is in the catalog pick up department. I saw this happening in my JCP and reported it at least half a dozen times to different managers, different managers at different levels in the management, I got so fed up with them not doing anything about it, I quit. I know I should go to all those bureau’s you mention, but I just don’t want to be a part of anything like that.
I editted my comment only to take out the the harshness of my wording, without changing the facts one bit. I stand by this as it really did happen and I’m trying to help people avoid it happening to them.
to respond to the response about my comment:
i saw it happen with my own eyes and heard it all. it was mainly pulled on elderly people who didn’t know what was really going on. and the associate would tell them the paperwork was for looking it up, not opening a new card, and the customers never read the paperwork (which is their fault for not reading it.)
