where can i download a free internal modem (for dial-up connection) in the internet?
external modems in the market are quite expensive this days. And my internal modem in my PC are malfunctioning.
is there a way i can download a free internal modem (for dial-up connection) in the internet ?
if yes, can anyone please share me a Web site that allows me to download a free internal modem ?

You can not download an internal modem, a modem is hardware not soft ware.
Hardware if actual metal and plastic that you have to put in your computer with tools like a screw driver .
Soft ware is something you can install from a disk or even from the internet.
Most hardware you get for your computer has to be accompanied with software (usually a CD), like a driver to make it work on your computer.
How is your modem malfunctioning? it might be a new driver you need, but if the actual modem is bad it is really easy to switch.
open the computer shell ( it only sounds scary) and the card you need to remove is the one with the phone line jacks , spot that card ( with the power cord unplugged) find the screw that hold the card in place and remove it, and gently but firmly pull out the card. just put a new one in its place.
I have found modems on ebay at really good prices or even taken them from old computers that are being discarded.
if you have windows xp you probably already have the driver for a 56 k modem but to be honest if you try this and it doesn’t work you may still have to break down and actually buy a modem from a place like walmart or staples.
You may have better luck moving up to a wireless card or thumb drive now available for even desk tops. but you will also have to get a faster ISP and get a router as well. But even if you don’t go with a wireless router you can move to a faster connection than dail up and use an ethernet connection instead of a 56k modem, most places with put their own modems on your computer with a USB or ethernet cable.
