Why did Internet Explorer take such a hit in popularity?
I’m sitting here reading a CSS for dummies book from waaaayyyyy back in 2005 and I see that they say that something like 80% of people were using IE. Um..so I looked it up..and it seems they had 65% market share in 2005 and then by 2006 they had something like 7% which I think is pretty funny since i hate IE. So what was it? Firefox?
It’s because Firefox has a bunch of free add-ons that IE doesn’t. The most significant, and useful, is the ad blocker that removes intrusive ads from web pages. Then there is the Last FM plug-in for music lovers.
