Internet marketing need be neither complicated nor expensive. It’s possible to do it yourself or obviously you can outsource to a professional.

 

The starting point is your keywords – what phrases do you want to come on Google for. For example our main phrase could be ‘internet marketing training’, ‘internet marketing training course’ or even ‘internet marketing course London’. You are looking for a key word or phrase that receives a healthy number of searches but is not too competitive. In this example we may even want to explore the options of ‘web marketing training’, ‘web marketing training course’ or ‘emarketing training’ etc.

 

Realistically our chances of getting onto the first page for ‘internet marketing’ are very small & the traffic may not be that interested in what we have to offer. Frequently the more precise or neiched the keyphrase the better. Gone are the days of restricting the phrase to one or two words, now-a-days three, four or even five word search phrases generate the best results.

 

Once you have worked out your best keyword eg ‘internet marketing training’ it’s a good idea to use this phrase in your URL (www.keyword.co.uk) & page names. Ideally you will want two or three keyphrases per page.

 

You want to ensure the keyphrase is also used in your meta tag description & frequently throughout the text, including the headings. Images should also be saved with the same keyphrase.

 

Google also likes to see a Site Map on your site & in coming links from other ranked sites. To achieve this we recommend you write a number of articles and submit them to suitable blogs etc.

So, to use the search engines to attract traffic you can use search engine optimisation & pay-per-click advertising.

 

There are others ways to attract traffic too. Social media sites such as Facebook, blogs, video sites such as You Tube and online directories can all provide you with masses of traffic.

 

Then it all comes down to having a good product or service & website to convey your message & install trust & confidence in the visitor.
