Why Most Dentists Let 97% Of Their Possible Patients Walk Right Past The Door

One of the secrets of getting maximum bang for your advertising buck is realizing that there are two types of people that respond to your ads.

There are going to be some people who are interested right now and they are going to call you right away.

Those are the ones who call the office within a day of seeing the ad.

They’re the ones that get most people excited and feeling that the cost of running the ad was worthwhile.

But here’s the thing.

These people represent just a handful of the possible market.

There’s a much larger group of people who are interested but just not ready.

These are the people who may respond a few days or even weeks after you ad appears.

The thing is most people ignore that group because they’re not ready to buy right away.

Most people are too desperate for the immediate sale to think ahead to the next few months.

The fact is that not following up with people who’ve
expressed interest is one of the biggest sins in marketing.

For example, one doctor in Chicago had 11 implant patients come off the first ad he ran. It produced over $80,000 in revenue in the first month.

But the thing is he had over 400 people respond to the ad.

He could choose to sit back and be satisfied with that result. Or he could keep following up with the rest of the 400.

If he only gets 10% conversion off the rest over the next year, that’s an extra 40 implant cases he will lose if he does not keep on following up.

So how do we know when that person who requested the information is ready to come in? When do we know it?

The answer is we don’t.

We have no idea when they are going to flip from being interested, but just not ready to interested and ready right now.

That’s why you should never stop following up. You should never stop marketing.

The reason is you don’t know when they are going to be ready.

The way you eliminate trying to be psychic as to when they are going to be ready is you market the heck out of them. You stay in touch with them with nice little postcards every month, maybe a newsletter, emails, teleseminar invites and so forth.

That’s when you have to make sure that you avoid that other marketing sin – being boring!

You have to make your messages useful, interesting and educational.

Your job is to keep feeding them information until they decide the moment is right to call you.

You are positioning yourself as the expert they will turn to when the moment is right.

The reason this is so powerful is that
everybody else gives up on these people.

So in five or six months when Mrs. Jones decides she needs to have her treatment, she is ready to write a check for $30,000.

Who is she going to go to? Well the answer is she is going to go to the person who stayed in front of her over the last six months and has continued to educate her.

She is going to go to the person who positions themselves as the expert.

The great thing about marketing to this group is that you know you are dealing with people who are interested.

This allows you to focus the maximum resources on people who have already raised their hand.

You can afford to spend a few dollars sending valuable information packs to 400 people who you know are interested.

But if you’ve got a list of 400,000 potentials, you just can’t do that.

That’s why recognizing that some of the people who respond to your ads are interested but just not ready yet is one of the most powerful secrets you can learn.
