Online Business Console Software
Would you consider piracy of copy-righted products as immoral if the original are not readily available?
I live in a small South Asian country and almost nothing original (books, films, software, video games, heck even video game consoles) is available here. We have very lax copyright protection, if any at all and piracy is a booming business in urban areas and instead of paying triple the cost of production to obtain a blank CD burned with a pirated movie or photocopies of books, I download torrents for free. Most international manufacturers know that demand for their products here are low so don’t bother to sell the legitimate products. So other than torrents, the only way for me to obtain products is to spend a small fortune on shipping and handling (the conversion rate of my local currency to dollars is ridiculously disproportionate) for a single DVD on amazon.com and wait a month for it to arrive. Netflix and other online distributors like iTunes or even ebay, where I could maybe get the products somewhat cheaper also don’t work here. So would you consider my pirating to be wrong?
