How do you housebreak an older rescue dog & re-housebreak the other dogs in our home?
We found an adult (1 or 2 years old, vet isn’t sure) dachshund six weeks ago. No one has claimed her (placed ads online & in paper,etc.), and since the shelter is full & she loves our kids & dogs we are keeping her. Our 2 other indoor dogs (female English Spring Spaniel, age 8 years & male Shizu/Pom mix, age 2 years) WERE housetrained prior to our rescuing the other dog. The newbie isn’t trained, and now the other 2 dogs seem to have forgotten their training as well. They pee & poop on rugs, carpet, the floor, you name it. The older dogs did not start this until two weeks after the rescue dog appeared. The older dogs will still do business outside (we praise & treat) but also add to the inside. The dogs get along & play together/sleep together/etc. and all are fixed, so the only thing spoiling our happily ever after is the housebreaking issue. What do I do to get the crew on track?
