Do I need a business license for an online business?
I am planning to start an online only business for computer services. It would be based from my home, and eventually if I get enough customers I would open a shop. I would be the only person working there unless it would get too big for just me. Do I need a license in the state of Illinois, more specificly Chicago Suburbs, to start an online business? Is there anything else I might need to be “legal?”
If you are going to sell something on line you will need to pay taxes on your income as well as state taxes over a certain amount. It is not difficult to start up a business but I advise you do it legally since it is not expensive. You can do it for under $1000.
