Online Business Mentoring

What is the best way to learn photography?
I love taking pictures of kids, families, nature and food. I am passionate about it. I want to learn more and even start my own business someday. The problem I’m having is sifting through all the information out there. I need to learn more about post processing and how to start my business. Do I take a college course? Do I learn through online tutorials? How about a mentoring session? I’m not looking for the easy way out, I just want to learn and I want to be good… really good. I guess I’m just nervous about doing something new, and worried that there is too much competition and I won’t know what I’m doing. Bottom line–I love photography. Always have. And I want it. Bad. Just need advice on what is the best way to go about this!!!! Thanks!
If you want to make it a business, take business and marketing classes, along with photography.
School is the best way, I recommend a Junior College, not a 4 year degree. It’s a lot to invest in a 4 year degree, with a low percentage of getting a good job in the field. A 2 year degree will get you on track, and will cover most of what you need.
Shoot a lot, talk to other photographer, set up a website, and try to distinguish yourself from what others are doing.
Photography has always been competitive, even more so now. Read some of the questions in here, some people buy a camera, have no idea what they are doing, and say so in a post. Three days later, the same person is asking how to sell their images.
Of your 4 choices, food would probably be the most lucrative, but also takes the most to learn all of the tricks. i.e. fake acrylic ice cubes, mashed potatoes made to look like ice cream, etc.
here’s my website, set up something basic, and start getting your name out:
