Am planning on starting my own business, preferable online retail. Only serious suggestion is welcome.?
I have about 30k as start up. product should only be available in the US with strong demand in canada.
I suggest you do some research and think about what needs there are in the market and how you can fill them. Once you’ve picked your industry, you can start thinking about how big your target market will start as and grow it from there.
My biggest piece of advice is to think big but start small and move slowly. Get your ideas set and work from a solid groundwork. Write up a business plan even if you don’t need one for a loan; it’ll help you stay on track. You have a great opportunity to build something great, but one misstep early on can be catastrophic down the road. You may have to settle for few features to start with or expand your startup cash with a small business loan, but I’d make sure that the site you launch works smoothly. It’s far better to do 1 thing very well than a half dozen halfheartedly.
Once you get things up and running, you can get creative with the marketing and do a redesign of your site, but get the basics done first.
