Online Business Spreadsheets
Help with a business spreadsheet (selecting postage type and then calculating from there)?
Right, first off.. im going to apologise for that title. Very helpful i am sure. :p
But basically the problem is.. i am selling things online, and i thought i’d make a little spreadsheet to help solve a few money confusions. (Gutted that i lost the other one, it was amazing.)
But yeah, you see where it says ‘cost of stamps’ near the top, well i want a dropdown menu where you can select 1st class, 2nd class, and international (I know that isnt the cost of stamps but i have been ignoring that until now)
I want it to go then to the column to the right and find out how much the cost of that type of stamp is then return the cost of the stamp as the ’1st, 2nd or international’ class words.
A bit like vlookup
So please

Just make the first column of your VLOOKUP into your dropdown list, give the list its own name and then as you commented use the Vlookup formula to obtain the desired info. You may want to expand on your lookup table to incorporate different countries postage costs, but then it can expand dramatically and cause all sorts of problems when rates change (as they will). Access would be a better choice as you can create queries that are very specific and detailed to extract the data you want.
