online business workers
How can workers and other people/things affected sue companies for injuries, etc; without laws and regulations?

I ask because I’ve seen conservatives online including both republicans and libertarians, making excuses for their extremist Laissez Faire economic philosophies and policies (which is not having regulations) – saying regulations is the problem and that there should be no regulations and then disasters like the current BP leak, work related injuries, environmental disasters, etc; could be avoided by taking protection away from big business.

However…if that was the case and the conservatives had their way, then how could anyone sue companies for doing something wrong if there was no laws/regulations that say what the lawful, considerate, ethical, moral and right way of doing business?

In other words if bad things businesses could do isn’t considered illegal because of laws/regulations then how would anyone have a legal case to sue companies that do wrongful damage to workers/others/the environment? I’d like to see that explained, because It doesn’t make sense.

deregulation will not lead to fewer accidents. It’s like running backwards to get at something in front of you.
