what does “editorial direction” mean?
i’m doing an assignment for college, to write about a magazine of my choice. the assignment ssays to study the magazine, who the art director is, the publisher, target market, etc, and also “editorial direction”. i have no idea what the term means, and looking it up in online dictionaries, wikipedia, etc have yeilded no results. help?

Editorial direction is the way the editor wants the publication to go, they usually tell the writer how a story should be framed (angle) ie in the case of the VA Tech shootings he ‘ she may want the focus to on the victims and the families, the shooter or something else. Or ask to have have a story aimed towards a certain demographic. That’s editorial direction. It’s literally direction from an editor.
