Permission Marketing Articles

They want to publish my article…how much do I charge?
I’m incredibly excited because I just got an email from a publishing company requesting to reprint one of my articles in their educational library resource text!
I am just kind of stuck…. on their permission form there is a blank space for “fee”
How much would you charge for this?
This is what they said about distribution: “We are expecting to produce 2500 hardcover copies of this reference work to sell at $34.95 each….We seek your permission for non-exclusive, all-language use for hardcover, online, and e-book in the global market (non-U.S.A. sales are less than 5% of total sales) for this edition and for future editions of XXX and for incidental promotional pieces.”
I still have no idea how much to charge…if anything.
What do you think?
Are you a member of LinkedIn, the professional social network?
If not, go to LinkedIn.com and sign up. It’s free. The site is a bit weird to navigate, but once you get the hang of it you’ll be fine.
Then go to ‘Groups’ on the Linkedin site. You’ll see a list of all of them. There are many groups for authors and writers. Pick two or three that look beneficial, and post your question there. You will get TONS of responses.
My recommendation: go to LindEds & Writers at http://www.linkedin.com/groups?gid=37917
and post your question. This is a huge group; you’ll be amazed at how many responses you get. Authors, marketing writers, editors, freelancers – tons of people who can help you.
I wish I could give you a dollar figure, as you requested, but am sending you to the people who can. Good luck!
