What Is Ping
Does anyone know how to find out what is blocking incoming ping requests?
I have a laptop I’m trying to connect to remotely and I can ping out of it to any PC on my network but no PC can ping back into it. There’s no IPsec policy installed and all firewalls are turned off. Any ideas as to what might block incoming requests?
I’m running Win XP. Again, there are no firewalls active and the IMCP service is active. This isn’t a private network either, it’s an Acitve Directory domain.

You have to allow ICMP Echo on your exceptions on the Firewall to allow Ping. It can be blocked on your router or wireless access point as well.
Also if you are behind a NAT router with a private IP address, this private IP address is not routable. Do you know how many 192.168.0.1 addresses there are in the world….millions.
